Volunteer Application
Volunteers are integral to fulfilling our mission of enhancing the lives of the diverse LGBTQ community through advocacy, support, education, and celebration. Volunteers manage our front desk, support and enhance Center programs, serve as community group facilitators, represent The Center in the community, help put on special events, and more.
In order to become a Center volunteer, you must be at least 18 years old and complete the following:
- Online volunteer application located below. If you need to fill out a paper application, you can complete one by visiting our front desk.
- Attend a half-day volunteer orientation at the LGBT Center. After completing your volunteer application, you will receive an e-mail with dates and times of upcoming orientations.
- Complete a background check through Verified Volunteers. After completing orientation, you will receive an e-mail with the background check prompt. Note: a criminal record will not necessarily prevent you from volunteering at The Center, but it might prevent you from working with certain programs or populations of Center guests.
- Depending on your volunteer role, there may be further training required, such as a shadow shift at our front desk.
If you are interested in one-time group volunteer opportunities, please contact the Center’s Community Engagement Coordinator, Chris McNulty, at [email protected].
