What is it?
PRIDE Recovery is an evidence-based program for people in recovery based on the SMART Recovery Model.
Why it matters
LGBTQ+ people often have unique struggles when trying to recover from substance use and harmful behaviors. Support groups for LGBTQ+ individuals can be very helpful, especially in cities where social life often revolves around bars and parties.
Although there are AA and NA groups just for LGBTQ+ people, some aspects of these programs like religious themes, labels, and gender roles can feel unwelcoming. PRIDE Recovery will offer a safe, sober space where LGBTQ+ people and allies can connect and get tools to handle challenges and avoid triggers.
How does it work?
The LGBT Center of Greater Cleveland has received funding from the Elevance Health Foundation, the Ridgecliff Foundation, and OneOhio Recovery Foundation to implement PRIDE Recovery, an evidence-based program based on the SMART Recovery Model.
Where to attend?
The program meets both on the west side (at the LGBT Center) and the east side (Central Outreach Wellness Center).
