Every year on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, there is a global day of giving.

This year, on Tuesday 11/28/2018, Facebook and PayPal are offering a match for all money given to nonprofits through Facebook up to $7 million. The match starts at 8:00 AM Eastern and expires at 11:59 PM or once $7 million has been raised.  The Center is eligible for up to $250,000 in matching funds, and all donations are matched dolar for dollar up to $20,000 per donor.

How Can I Participate?

Visit The Center's Facebook on #GivingTuesday and make a one-time or recurring gift to The Center. Thanks to the match from Facebook and PayPal, you can double your impact by giving between 8 AM and 11:59 PM.

Create a Facebook Fundraiser

Make a Facebook fundraiser to benefit The Center on your personal Facebook page. New features from Facebook allow you to co-sponsor a fundraiser with friends to multiply your network of possible donors or to match donations that you receive and multiply your impact. Offer a Match

Facebook has created a new feature that allows you to match donations made through fundraisers on your page. You can quadruple the impact of your gift by offering a match on #GivingTuesday. If you offer a match of $250 then raise $250 through your fundraiser, Facebook will match that $500 for a total donation of $1,000!  More information about setting a match below.

QUADRUPLE Your Impact. Offer a Match.

Once your nonprofit fundraiser is created, you will have the option to pledge a match for donations. You can pledge any amount that fits your budget. The minimum pledge amount is $5 and the maximum is $2500.

If your pledge goal is met, you’ll be able to have your credit card charged at that time or your card will be automatically charged within 24 hours of your fundraiser’s end date.

If donations to your fundraiser exceed your pledge amount, you are only responsible for the amount you pledged. (eg. If you pledged $100 and raised $200, you’re only charged $100.)

If the amount you raise is less than your pledge, you only have to match the amount you raised. (eg. If you pledged $100, but only raised $80, you’re only charged $80.)

Create A Facebook Fundraiser

Step 1: Click "Fundraisers" on the left menu of your newsfeed.

Step 2: Click the green "Raise Money" button on the left menu, or "Select Nonprofit" on the Giving Tuesday pane.

Step 3: Select The LGBT Community Center of Greater Cleveland as your nonprofit.

Step 4: Fill in your fundraiser details and select a cover photo.
